The Team

Sonoma Stories preserves the personal stories that connect people to Sonoma Valley. This is a community project that Don Lundgren started. As the collection grows, we are building a team of people who can help find, record and publish these stories.

You do not need to do everything. You can contribute in the role that best matches your interests and experience. If you feel you can contribute in ways not listed below volunteer.

1. Marketing

Mission

Increase the awareness of Sonoma Stories in the community

Responsibilities

  • Develop Marketing Plan

  • Create Marketing Material

  • Run Marketing Programs

Skills Required

  • Ability to think strategically about the program and how to market it

2. Story Finders ⭐ Highest Priority

Mission

Find people with interesting Sonoma stories who are willing to tell them.

Responsibilities

  • Introduce Sonoma Stories.

  • Encourage participation (pick one of these): organizations e.g. Rotary, sports, e.g. Bocce ball, non-profits, e.g., Vintage House, school system, e.g., teachers, local government, e.g., city employees, businesses, e.g., Plaza stores , hospitality, e.g., hotels, wine industry, your friends and neighborhood.

  • Make introductions.

  • Schedule interviews if appropriate.

Skills Required

  • Ability to talk to people & enthusiasm about the program

3. Story Interviewers

Mission

Record relaxed 10–15 minute conversations on your cell phone

Responsibilities

  • Follow the Sonoma Stories interview guide.

  • Cover the three journey questions:

    • How did you first discover Sonoma?

    • Why did you decide to stay?

    • How have you helped build Sonoma?

  • Record on a cell phone.

  • Upload the recording to Don Lundgren.

Skills Required

  • Comfortable recording on a cell phone.

4. Story Processors

Mission

Turn recordings into stories and publish on Sonoma Stories Website

Responsibilities

  • Whisper transcription - audio to text

  • ChatGPT Creates, from transcription the exact format for Website

    • Full Story

    • Insights

    • About This Story

  • Edit above

  • Post to Squarespace.

Skills Required

This requires the most skills of the 3 roles. You need an entry level knowledge of ChatGPT (Don will train you if needed). You need to be comfortable posting information to a Website, in the format above. (Don will train you if needed)
